Providing Pro Bono Legal Services Is… Alex Page explores what providing pro bono services means to her in a brief video.
MJ Action, formerly Project Giveback, is a pro bono and community service initiative started in February 2021.
Miller Johnson believes in action.
Miller Johnson’s award-winning pro bono program has committed to providing at least $1 million in legal services each year in partnership with individuals and public interest organizations in the communities in which Miller Johnson’s clients live and work. Miller Johnson’s pro bono and public interest efforts engage attorneys and other team members from a wide variety of practice areas, with wide-ranging support for business, financial, protective, and personal needs of individuals and entrepreneurs. Miller Johnson attorneys have assisted human trafficking survivors with domestic and family law issues, helped first-time entrepreneurs form businesses and protect intellectual property rights, pursued trailblazing litigation, formed non-profit organizations, and counseled clients through a host of small business and corporate matters, such as hiring their first employees.
Miller Johnson believes in community.
Miller Johnson celebrates the work of its community partners and encourages each of its team members to actively engage in their respective communities. In addition to its pro bono and public interest efforts, the firm provides regular volunteer opportunities in which all team members are encouraged to participate. Miller Johnson routinely solicits input from team members in identifying partner organizations with whom the firm’s collaboration would be particularly productive. Team members have packed lunches for under-privileged children, assisted with immigration asylum clinics, and mobilized responses to food-security needs in the localities in which Miller Johnson’s clients live and work.
Miller Johnson is proud to participate in its public interest, pro bono, and volunteer efforts in partnership with numerous national and local organizations, including Rende Progress Capital, Legal Aid, the YWCA, Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, Michigan Veteran Entrepreneur Lab, Spring GR, Special Olympics of West Michigan, Kids’ Food Basket, and more.
