Business and Corporate Paralegal – Grand Rapids Office

Miller Johnson, one of West Michigan’s largest full service law firms, is seeking an experienced full-time Paralegal to join our business section in our downtown Grand Rapids office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for business transactions including establishing and maintaining data (both physical and electronic), preparing and organizing closing documents, and coordinating closing and post-closing activities
  • Assist with business entity maintenance, formation and dissolution of for profit and nonprofit business entities, foreign qualification of companies doing business outside the state of incorporation, research registered agent and director and officer information, etc.
  • Prepare and file annual reports, EINs, and UCC financing statements, securities filings, etc.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or certification from an accredited paralegal program
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and commercial finance transactions is ideal
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and PDF creation
  • Concise and effective written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional client service skills, discretion, and judgment to ensure client confidentiality
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Self-motivated professional with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think creatively to identify and implement proactive solutions

Corporate Tax Attorney – Grand Rapids Office

One of West Michigan’s largest, full service law firms, with offices in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, has an immediate opening for a corporate tax attorney to provide tax advisory support to their business practice groups. The position is in the Grand Rapids office.

The right candidate will have experience in Federal Income Tax, including “C” corporations, “S” corporations, partnerships and real estate investment trusts. Be able to advise business clients on day-to-day tax planning and annual compliance matters and also advise real estate clients on the formation and operation of real estate partnerships and real estate investment trusts.

Excellent academic credentials are required, including an LLM in Tax, as well as good writing and communication skills. Minimum 3 years of experience in transactional tax is required.

Immigration Legal Administrative Assistant – Kalamazoo Office

Miller Johnson, one of West Michigan’s largest full service law firms, is seeking an experienced full-time Legal Administrative Assistant for our downtown Kalamazoo office located in the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinating administrative and legal practice tasks and projects for attorneys
  • Calendaring meetings, deadlines, tasks, conference calls, preparing new client intake materials, opening new client matters, billing activities
  • Client interaction by phone, email and in person
  • Preparing, editing, proofreading, assembling, and filing of legal documents and correspondence, including electronically through Electronic Case Files (ECF), as needed
  • Administrative support to attorneys and paralegals preparing and filing applications and petitions for employment based immigration benefits

  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience

Trusts and Estates Attorney: Private Client Practice Group – Grand Rapids Office

Miller Johnson has an immediate opening for an associate attorney in its Private Client Practice Group.
