Miller Johnson Hosts Lunch & Learn for MJ Action Volunteers
As part of Pro Bono Month, and to kick off MJ Volunteer, part of MJ Action, Miller Johnson is hosting a Lunch & Learn for team members to learn more about Kids’ Food Basket and upcoming volunteer opportunities in Grand Rapids. Damon Bouwkamp, Kids’ Food Basket Manager of Volunteer Services will speak about his organization’s mission, programs, advocacy and volunteer opportunities as part of #MJVolunteer and Pro Bono Month.
Kids’ Food Basket exists to increase access to healthy food for children and families. Their core belief is that food is a right, not a privilege. Because that is not yet a reality, they mobilize human and financial resources to break down barriers that cause food insecurity. Their services include the flagship Sack Supper program, community-driven farming, family food provision and educational programming. Collectively, they are working toward realizing a hunger-free West Michigan for all.
MJ Action, formerly known as Project Giveback, is a pro bono and community service initiative started in February 2021 that provides Miller Johnson attorneys and team members the opportunity to provide support to the community through legal services and volunteerism.
