Adam M. Blaylock

Adam Blaylock is an attorney in the firm’s Education practice.  His practice covers all areas of education and labor and employment.

Professional Experience
Most recently, Mr. Blaylock was the Director of Human Resources at Lincoln Consolidated Schools in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In his time at Lincoln, Mr. Blaylock lead the District’s COVID-19 Response, assisted the Board of Education with selecting its permanent Superintendent during the pandemic, and counseled the Board and the Superintendent on a myriad of policy, employment, and administrative issues. Mr. Blaylock also served as the District’s FOIA Coordinator, Title IX Coordinator, and resident AI expert.

Known for building positive relationships in the school community, Mr. Blaylock was the chief negotiator with the District’s four different union groups (teachers, support staff, bus drivers, and administrators) and successfully settled eleven different contracts in four and a half years. Mr. Blaylock is recognized by colleagues as a thought partner and resource in developing practical solutions to the thorniest problems.

Mr. Blaylock co-designed the District’s induction program for new teachers, culminating in a three-day new teacher experience and meaningful mentorship in a time when supporting teachers became the best way to reduce turnover. Mr. Blaylock has also developed expertise in certification compliance and staffing solutions.

Professional Activities and Affiliations
From 2010-2020, Mr. Blaylock coached high school students in competitive public speaking through the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association. Mr. Blaylock was named the Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015 and by Michigan Speech Coaches, Incorporated (MSCI) and later served on MSCI’s Board from 2018-2022.

Education
Mr. Blaylock received his law degree from Wayne State University Law School. While in law school he served as Assistant Editor and Senior Articles Editor of the Wayne Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the Michigan State University. Mr. Blaylock is admitted to practice in Michigan.
