Erica L. Jilek

Erica is an Associate in the firm’s Employment and Labor practice group. She focuses her practice on management-side labor and employment counseling and litigation and governmental litigation.

Employment

Erica defends lawsuits related to employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, FMLA claims, ERISA disputes, health and safety laws, wage and hour claims, and contract disputes. She also assists clients in drafting employment contracts, separation agreements, human resource policies, and employee handbooks. Additionally, Erica provides advice on workplace issues, including health and safety protocols, disability accommodation, and employee discipline.

Government Affairs

Erica has assisted public bodies, including municipalities, civil rights organizations, and nonprofits in litigation related to challenges that have political and financial implications, such as ballot questions, voting rights, and election law disputes.

Professional Affiliations, Activities and Honors

Erica is Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Section for the Washtenaw County Bar Association.

Erica has earned a spot on the Michigan State Bar Pro Bono Honor Roll several times

Education, Bar and Court Admissions, Clerkships

Erica received her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in May 2020. During law school, she served as the Senior Articles Editor of the Wayne Law Review and worked as a student attorney at the Free Legal Aid Clinic.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Central Michigan University in 2016, where she was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Society.
