Andrew C. Goetz
Andrew Goetz joined Miller Johnson in 2024 and is a Member in the firm’s Detroit office. As the chair of the firm’s Internal Investigations and Compliance group, Andrew focuses his practice on internal and government investigations, as well as complex and appellate litigation. Andrew also maintains a robust ADR practice and is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s national roster of arbitrators.
With a unique blend of government and private-sector experience, Andrew offers strategic direction when clients need it the most. Before joining Miller Johnson, Andrew spent nearly 14 years at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, where he served as the office’s Appellate Chief and part of the executive team. In that role, he supervised all of the office’s civil and criminal appellate litigation, guided the office in resolving many of its most complex or sensitive legal questions, and argued over 35 appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Andrew’s experience covered multi-defendant RICO cases, civil and criminal health care matters, and the investigation and prosecution of corrupt public officials.
Andrew’s acumen and background allow him to offer clear-eyed advice during all manner of internal and government investigations and complex litigation. He excels at identifying and resolving difficult issues early in a matter, advising clients facing whistleblower complaints or possible enforcement actions, and reducing litigation risk. He specializes in navigating complex questions of constitutional or statutory interpretation, changes in the law or policy, issues of first impression, and intricate regulatory schemes.
Andrew’s experience runs the gamut of federal civil and criminal law, including administrative, health care, employment, national security, securities, education, and constitutional law. Since joining Miller Johnson, Andrew has represented health care and educational institutions in internal and government investigations under both federal and state law, including False Claims Act matters. While previously in private practice at a large international law firm in Washington D.C., Andrew represented financial institutions and other corporate clients on internal investigations, white collar and regulatory defense, alleged accounting and securities fraud, and corporate compliance.
