Madeline VerHey is an Associate in Miller Johnson’s real estate practice group, where her practice focuses on residential and commercial transactions, zoning and planning issues, and environmental site diligence matters. Madeline has advised clients in commercial leasing transactions involving retail and service industry properties.

Professional Affiliations, Activities and Honors

Madeline is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and Section Co-Chair for the Young Alumni Section of the Notre Dame Club of Grand Rapids.  Madeline is also the Meritas Emerging Leader contact for the firm.

Articles and Presentations

Madeline spoke at the Meritas Law Firms Worldwide U.S. Regional Meeting in Austin, Texas in October, 2023 on the “How Law Firms Can Overcome Generational Disconnection and Re-engage Talent” panel discussing how tapping into the strengths, tendencies, and preferences at a generational level, just as one may do at an individual level, has the power to energize and galvanize your firm’s talent.

Madeline was a co-panelist at the MASSP Women’s Summit 2022. Madeline also published her student Comment, Restrain Your Enthusiasm: United States v. Taylor and Robbery Enhancement for Restraint of a Victim, in the April 6, 2021 edition of the Boston College Law Review.

Education

Madeline earned her Juris Doctorate cum laude from Boston College Law School in 2022. While in law school, she served as Executive Notes Editor for the Boston College Law Review and Vice President of the Federalist Society. Madeline interned for Chief Judge Robert J. Jonker as a summer clerk during the summer of 2020. Madeline graduated with her B.A in Political Science with a minor in Sustainability from the University of Notre Dame in 2019.
