Section 31aa Update

In the evening of October 30, 2025, the Michigan Department of Education (“MDE”) noted a correction in “the deadline for the Per Pupil Mental Health and School Safety – Section 31aa grant” stating that the correct deadline date to accept funding under Section 31aa for mental health and school safety is November 30, 2025.

MDE acknowledged in their weekly communication email sent in the evening on October 30, 2025 that the previous deadline of November 16, 2025 was in error.  Note, this is a departure from MDE’s previously noted deadline of November 16, 2025.  Based on the newly announced deadline, school districts weighing the decision will have two more weeks to decide whether to accept Section 31aa funding and may adjust their schedules to do so accordingly.
