Michigan Minimum Wage Increasing to $13.73 January 1
Effective January 1, Michigan’s minimum wage will increase to $13.73 in accordance with the schedule outlined in the Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act.
What’s Changing?
- The minimum hourly wage for employees will increase from $12.48 to $13.73 per hour.
- For tipped employees, the minimum hourly rate will increase to $5.49 per hour, provided the employee earns at least $8.24 in tips. This increase is 40% of the new minimum wage.
- For minors aged 16 and 17, the minimum wage rate (85% of the standard rate) will increase from $10.60 to $11.67 per hour.
What’s Remaining the Same?
- The training wage for employees aged 19 and under will remain at $4.25 per hour for their first 90 days of employment.
