Accounting Specialist

Miller Johnson is seeking an experienced, full-time Accounting Specialist to join our accounting and finance team in our downtown Grand Rapids office.


  • Cash receipts application and daily deposit using remote banking deposit scanner
  • Banking and treasury transactions including processing electronic funds transfers
  • Accounts payable processing including vendor payments and expense reimbursements
  • Credit card statement reconciliations including data entry into accounting software
  • Contacting clients for past due accounts receivable


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years of accounting experience; prior accounting experience in a law firm, other professional service organization or banking industry helpful
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles required
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Concise and effective written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional client service skills, discretion, and judgment to ensure client confidentiality
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Self-motivated professional with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to think creatively to identify and implement proactive solutions
