Miller Johnson Welcomes Five New Members

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. February 25, 2025 – Miller Johnson is pleased to announce the election of five attorneys to the firm Membership. Sandra M. Andre, Matthew J. Paradiso, Michael D. Penny, Hunter Reams, and Adam J. Walker. All five have been practicing law at Miller Johnson and all are rising from the associate level to Member.

Sandra M. Andre is a Member in Miller Johnson’s Employment & Labor practice. She counsels a diverse group of employers and human resource practitioners on a wide array of workforce related matters. Sandy is also part of the employment litigation team defending employers in cases including claims such as discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation. Sandy was named a Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch in Health Care Law and Labor and Employment Law – Management in 2024 and 2025. Before pursuing a career as an attorney and joining Miller Johnson as a summer associate in 2017, Sandy worked for over a decade as a dedicated human resources leader and professional. Sandy earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law and received a Master of Labor Relations and Human Resources and a B.S. in Psychology with Honors both at Michigan State University.

Matthew J. Paradiso is a Member in Miller Johnson’s Real Estate practice. He focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, disposition, leasing and development matters. Matt represents a wide range of real estate investors, developers, owners and users, focused in the areas of retail, office, industrial, mixed-use, health care, affordable-housing, and renewable energy. He also has significant experience advising health care providers on the fraud and abuse laws that apply to real estate transactions. Matt earned his J.D., cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School and received a B.A. from James Madison College at Michigan State University.

Michael D. Penny is a Member in Miller Johnson’s Business / Corporate practice specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A). Michael’s practice focuses on private-company transactions, including private equity acquisitions and sales of closely held businesses. Michael was named a Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch for Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law in 2024 and 2025, and was an honoree at the M&A Advisor Emerging Leader Awards in 2022. Michael began his legal career with Miller Johnson as a summer associate in 2017. Michael earned his earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law and received a B.A. in Business Administration at Aquinas College.

Hunter Reams is a Member in Miller Johnson’s Business / Corporate practice focusing on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A). He has experience working with a range of clients including tech start-ups, large manufacturing companies and established private equity groups. In addition to M&A, Hunter provides a variety of other corporate legal services, including fund documentation, commercial contract negotiations, and general corporate restructuring. He also spent several years in public accounting (Deloitte, BDO) and uses that experience to provide tax consulting services and reviews of various tax/financial provisions in agreements. Hunter was named as a Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch for Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law in 2025. Hunter earned his J.D. from South Carolina School of Law and received a B.S. in Business Entrepreneurship and B.S. in Political Science at Central Michigan University.

Adam Walker is a Member in the firm’s Employment & Labor practice. His practice spans private and public sector employers and primarily involves policies, traditional labor, and employment litigation. Adam counsels on a broad array of topics—including FMLA/ADA compliance, employment agreements, severance agreements, wage and hour issues, investigations, and discrimination. His traditional labor work includes collective bargaining, labor arbitration, and unfair labor practice procedures. Adam was named a Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watchin Labor and Employment Law – Management in 2024 and 2025. Adam earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and received a B.S. in Religion at Central Michigan University.
