Miller Johnson Represents Kamps Pallets in Strategic Acquisitions
The Transactions
Miller Johnson represented Kamps Pallets (Kamps) in its recent strategic acquisition of D&H Bark, Inc.’s mulch business and the Atlanta pallet businesses of Green Trip Recycling, Inc. (GTR).
In April 2020, Kamps expanded its existing mulch and bark business with the purchase of the business of D&H Bark, Inc., located two hours north of Kamps’ Grand Rapids corporate headquarters. D&H Bark, Inc. has been involved in wholesale mulch and related sales for over twenty years and joined Kamps’ Wood Resource Division, which will be the division’s sixth location in Michigan. According to Mitchell Kamps, the president of Kamps, D&H Bark, Inc. is a “long standing, family owned company with a clear focus on quality of product and delivering top notch service, which aligns with our company’s principles and complements our current supply chain.”
In May 2020, Kamps also entered the Atlanta market with the purchase of GTR’s business. Concurrently with the GTR acquisition, Kamps acquired the Atlanta book of business, and other assets, from a large national broker in the industry, which will be combined with GTR’s Atlanta facility. “Green Trip Recycling has an established customer-oriented culture and a keen focus on delivering service and quality. Our cultures are a perfect fit for one another and we are excited to have them join the Kamps Pallet family” says Kamps’ president, Mitchell Kamps.
