Miller Johnson Attorney Sarah Willey Named Influential Women Of Law For 2025

KALAMAZOO, MI – September 26, 2025 – Miller Johnson is proud to announce that Sarah Willey, Member at Miller Johnson and three-time member of our Management Committee, has been recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as an “Influential Woman of Law” for 2025. This prestigious accolade celebrates Sarah’s outstanding legal accomplishments, her dedication to the profession, her support of women attorneys and leaders, and her commitment to making a positive impact in the legal community and beyond.

Sarah is an employment and labor attorney who works with a diverse clientele to provide counsel on a wide-range of employment-related legal issues and disputes. Her employment and labor knowledge and experience provides the foundation for her to partner with clients in developing personnel policies and management training programs.

“Sarah’s recognition as an Influential Woman of Law is a testament to her exceptional leadership, deep legal expertise, and unwavering commitment to her clients and colleagues,” said David M. Buday, Managing Member of Miller Johnson. “At Miller Johnson, we’ve long known the impact Sarah has made—not only through her work in employment and labor law, but also in mentoring others and shaping the future of our firm. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor with her.”

Sarah’s influence on the justice system is evident in her litigation work, where she balances assertiveness with sensitivity. She has successfully defended clients in federal court and before administrative agencies, setting precedents that uphold both employer rights and employee protections. Her thought leadership on employment law compliance has contributed to a more informed and equitable legal landscape in Michigan.

Sarah is deeply committed to giving back. She has contributed significant time to pro bono work, particularly in areas related to housing and employment rights. In 2024, she was again recognized by the State Bar of Michigan, being listed in their “A Lawyer Helps Pro Bono Honor Roll” for her support of access-to-justice efforts for low-income individuals and families across the state. Her volunteerism includes mentoring law students and young professionals, speaking at legal education seminars, and participating in community outreach programs that educate the public on their legal rights.

The Michigan Lawyers Weekly Influential Women of Law award recognizes Sarah’s exceptional achievements in the practice of law, her leadership within the legal community, and her dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of her clients and colleagues.

Sarah Willey and her fellow honorees were celebrated at the Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Influential Women of Law event on September 26.  They were recognized for their remarkable contributions to the legal profession. Learn more about the Class of 2025 Influential Women of Law here.
