Miller Johnson Attorney Amy Murphy Recognized in Crain’s Grand Rapids Business “40 Under 40”
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – October 7, 2025 – Miller Johnson is proud to announce that Amy Murphy has been named to Crain’s Grand Rapids Business 2025 “40 Under 40” list. Amy is recognized as one of West Michigan’s most influential young professionals, celebrated for her exceptional contributions to innovation, leadership, and community impact.
Amy focuses her practice in civil, white collar, and appellate litigation. She has litigated a wide variety of claims, including breach of contract, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty, theft of trade secrets, copyright and trademark infringement, violation of noncompetition clauses, employment discrimination, legal malpractice, fraud, and shareholder oppression. She has successfully represented clients in business disputes, constitutional challenges, and state and federal government investigations. She has recently defended a complex class action involving contract, securities law, and antitrust.
Amy has presented oral argument in several appellate courts. Most notably, she argued in the Michigan Supreme Court in a high-profile constitutional challenge in which Miller Johnson’s clients prevailed. Outside of the courtroom, Amy counsels clients in a wide variety of matters, including intellectual property, document retention and preservation obligations, and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Amy is a dedicated member of the bar. She serves as President Elect of the Federal Bar Association for the Western District of Michigan. She is a Michigan chapter leader of the international Women’s White Collar Defense Association and a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
Amy earned her law degree with honors from University of Michigan Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with honors from the University of Pennsylvania.
