Miller Johnson and Irwin IP Elect Four Attorneys to Membership

Miller Johnson and Irwin IP are pleased to announce the election of four attorneys to the Membership. Robyn Bowland, Reid Huefner, Joseph Marinelli, and Ifti Zaim. All four are rising from the Counsel level to Member.

Robyn Bowland is a Member of the Intellectual Property practice group. She represents both intellectual property owners and accused infringers in resolving complex disputes. Robyn has handled numerous matters before federal district courts across the country as well as the ITC. She also has significant experience evaluating products prior to launch to help clients understand and manage risks related to intellectual property protection. Robyn has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Litigation – Intellectual Property and Litigation – Patent, named a Leading Lawyer since 2025, and honored as a Super Lawyer for Intellectual Property since 2023. Before beginning her legal career in 2008, Robyn served as an officer in the U.S. Army. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School and her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Reid Huefner is a Member of the Intellectual Property practice group. His practice includes litigation, transactional, and opinion work spanning all aspects of intellectual property law. Reid represents clients in a wide range of forums, including federal and state district and appellate courts, the ITC, the USPTO and PTAB, and U.S. Customs. He also provides IP support in transactional contexts such as software licensing, research and development agreements, joint ventures, outsourcing, mergers and acquisitions, and bankruptcy. Reid has both depth and breadth of experience counseling clients on defending and protecting their patent, trade secret, copyright, and trademark interests in both litigation and transactional settings. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Patent Law since 2023. Reid earned his J.D., from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School; his M.B.A. in Finance, Venture Capital, and Private Equity from BYU’s Marriott School of Management; and B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Utah—all with honors.

Joseph Marinelli is a Member of the Intellectual Property practice group. An accomplished trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience, Joseph helps clients protect their most important innovations and defend against claims that threaten their business objectives. He represents clients in high-stakes litigation and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, particularly in matters involving patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights. Joseph has secured multi-million-dollar verdicts, defended critical IP portfolios in dozens of inter partes reviews, and counseled clients across industries ranging from fintech and mobile devices to automotive systems and semiconductors. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer since 2021. Joseph earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.

Ifti Zaim is a Member of the Intellectual Property practice group. He focuses on utility and design patent litigation, AIA challenges before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, IP-related appeals, disputes with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and trade secret litigation. Most recently, Ifti served as Second Chair in the landmark LKQ v. GM case, in which the Federal Circuit, sitting en banc, delivered a historic victory to his client by overruling the long-standing Rosen-Durling test for design patent obviousness. In addition to managing the en banc appeal, Ifti oversaw the related Federal Circuit panel appeals and the numerous AIA challenges that led to those appeals. He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law and his B.A. in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics, from the University of Texas at Austin.
