Jackson Honored as an Up and Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly
Dustin J. Jackson has been recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as an “Up and Coming Lawyer” for having excelled in his field and for being a standout among his peers. He will be honored at an awards luncheon at the Detroit Marriott on December 13.
The selection committee for Michigan Lawyers Weekly chose 30 attorneys based on having established a name for themselves, going above and beyond, and displaying the ambition, drive, determination and accomplishments that set them apart among their peers — in their first 10 years in practice. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2009.
In his M&A practice, Mr. Jackson represents a diverse range of clients in numerous industries, including manufacturing, distribution, technology, automotive and healthcare. He has extensive experience on both the buy-side and sell-side of strategic and financial transactions involving a variety of transaction structures, including asset deals, stock deals, carve-out transactions, and transactions with consideration in the form of rollover equity and earn-outs.
Mr. Jackson strives to generate value by creating the appropriate transactional structure for the deal and seeking win-win opportunities for the parties involved. He welcomes the challenge of identifying the risks as well as the opportunities in a transaction.
Mr. Jackson actively engages with two organizations: The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity (LCLD). He was on the committee for the ACG Cup competition and recently was one of the business leaders involved in ACG University: Strategic Acquisitions. He serves as the co-chair of the ACG Inclusion Committee. Mr. Jackson is a 2018 Fellow with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program. This program accepts mid-career attorneys with strong leadership and relationship skills who are committed to fostering diversity within the country’s leading law firms and largest companies, and the legal profession at large.
Dustin Daniels, M&A chair at Miller Johnson, has this to say: “Dustin Jackson is a natural leader and mentor to new attorneys in our corporate law group. He is hard working, humble, confident and intelligent. Dustin is also a team player. To use a baseball analogy, he is a “five-tool player”. Clients love working with Dustin, and he develops rapport and respect quickly. The sky is the limit for his professional career. In addition, Dustin is a devoted husband and father. It is not always easy balancing a successful legal career and family life, but Dustin maintains the right balance and priorities. Miller Johnson is fortunate to have Dustin Jackson as a team member and firm leader.”
Mr. Jackson and his wife Jen are the parents of three active children and reside in west Michigan.
