Holtvluwer Appointed to Board of Directors
Wendy P. Holtvluwer was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Western Michigan Planned Giving Group. Her practice areas include probate and estate planning, taxation, and nonprofits and tax-exempt entities.
Ms. Holtvluwer is the chair of Miller Johnson’s nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations practice. She has extensive experience with current and deferred charitable giving vehicles, including private foundations (operating and nonoperating), public charities, donor advised funds, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts.
Ms. Holtvluwer prepares wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, durable powers of attorney for financial decisions, designations of patient advocates and HIPAA consents to allow clients to avoid probate, reduce or eliminate taxes and protect their loved ones. She helps business owners with succession planning and tax planning, using vehicles such as family limited partnerships, limited liability companies and grantor trusts, as well as family or employment agreements.
Ms. Holtvluwer is listed in the “Best Lawyers in America®” for Non-Profit / Charities Law, and Trusts and Estates. She received her LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law, her J.D. from Ohio Northern University College of Law, and her B.A. from Cornerstone University.
The Western Michigan Planned Giving Group serves to promote charitable giving in the community by hosting frequent educational sessions, supplying educational materials and promoting national participation in advocacy efforts.
