Dick Hillary Nominated as Newsmaker of the Year
Dick Hillary, chair of Miller Johnson’s Mental Health Law practice, has been nominated by the Grand Rapids Business Journal as a 2019 Newsmaker of the Year. Mr. Hillary is one of three finalists in the Law category nominated along with finalists in 16 categories to be recognized by the Grand Rapids Business Journal on January 29, 2020.
Mr. Hillary helped launch the firm’s Mental Health Law practice in 2019, working with licensed professionals and mental and behavioral health providers in connection with the Michigan Mental Health Code, False Claims Act, mandatory reporter obligations and other issues imposed on healthcare providers. Mr. Hillary heads up a group of nine Miller Johnson attorneys helping psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, and inpatient or outpatient health service providers to understand the complex legal and ethical challenges they face.
“It is an honor to be nominated for work that comes as a service to caregivers and providers in our community,” said Mr. Hillary. “My representation on their behalf furthers the efforts of many to destigmatize mental health and bring the conversations over depression, anxiety, suicide, and suffering to the forefront. Everyone’s collective voices in helping those that are battling is worthy of recognition. I thank the Business Journal for recognizing this.”
Mr. Hillary is also the chair of Miller Johnson’s Health Care Professional Licensing, Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation practice and a member of the firm’s Health Care Reimbursement practice. He represents a wide variety of business entities, including hospitals, physician groups, and individuals.
