She previously held various positions throughout a 20-year period at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Roeder holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from Wayne State University and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in American Public Affairs: Metropolitan Studies from Michigan State University.
