Bruinsmas Honored by Wedgwood Christian Services

Bruinsma Wedgwood Award
Jim and Ellen Bruinsma were honored on November 9 at Wedgwood’s 57th Anniversary Celebration Dinner.  They are the recipients of the Doug & Lois Nagel Leadership Award for the tremendous difference they have made in the lives of countless youth and families that find hope and healing at Wedgwood Christian Services.

Wedgwood is a non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to helping troubled kids discover lives filled with meaning and purpose.  They also presented Betsy Greer with the Molly Guillaume Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Bruinsmas have actively volunteered in some capacity for 40 years.  Ellen began as a member of one of the Wedgwood guilds, organizations that provided Christmas gifts, birthday cakes and other “extras” for Wedgwood’s residents.  She ultimately became the president of all the guilds and continued in that role for over 15 years.  Ellen has been a member of Wedgwood’s Board of Directors for the last seven years, and will become Board chair in 2018.

In addition to providing legal services to Wedgwood, Jim has been co-chair of Wedgwood’s annual golf fundraiser for the last ten years.  Jim and Ellen were also co-chairs (along with three other couples) for Wedgwood’s most recent capital campaign.

Wedgwood Christian Services was founded in 1960. They help young people live productive and fulfilling lives through their core areas of community services, education and residential treatment.
