Workshop

Threats and Violence in the Workplace

The world isn’t getting any kinder. With pressures like economic stress, a toxic political environment, and ever-present personal issues on the minds of so many employees, it’s no surprise that inappropriate anger, threats, vandalism, and attacks have barged into the work environment so frequently. This workshop will help HR professionals understand and respond to a complex subject: threats and violence in the workplace.

Although any HR professional’s biggest nightmare is the prospect of having an active shooter loose on their premises, most of the violent or threatening conduct which typically takes place at work is far tamer. But that doesn’t mean it ever should be tolerated. This workshop will focus on managing employees’ fears and provide information on careful hiring and humane management of all employees. It will also cover subjects such as:

  • When and how to respond to high-risk employee behavioral problems
  • The best path to understanding the HR, legal, and behavioral requirements and constraints when workplace violence is a possibility
  • How to hire, interview, discipline, and terminate various employees in certain situations
