Join us Wednesday July 13th from 5pm until 7pm for light bites and cold drinks on the terrace. After networking, we will have a short presentation and roundtable discussion on some timely and relevant topics affecting employers in West Michigan.

We will cover the potential impact on employers of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision (which overturned Roe v. Wade). Topics will include the impact on both fully-insured and self-insured health benefit plans, what the decision means for organizations with employees who reside in different states, whether and how employers can choose to reimburse employees for abortion-related travel expenses, the application of paid time off benefits to reproductive health services and suggestions for navigating any potential employee conflict in the workplace.  We look forward to a respectful and thoughtful conversation centered on the law and its impact on employers generally, recognizing that each organization has its own sets of values and mission.

We will also review the impact the recent economic challenges are likely to have on our organizations.  We will discuss the impact of inflation (and the responsive rate hikes by the Federal Reserve) on commercial lending arrangements, supply chain issues and debt/equity markets.  We will also discuss the possible impacts of a potential recession, including how long and deep a recession might be, its likely impact on the booming transactional markets, as well as how and what we can do as Chief Legal and Risk Officers to help prepare our organizations to limit the impact of a recession.
