Immigrant business owners work hard to build stability for themselves, their families, and their communities. This workshop is designed for business owners who want to protect what they have built and plan ahead in case an owner or employee is unexpectedly unavailable, including due to immigration detention, deportation, travel restrictions, illness, or other emergencies.
The first portion of the event will feature a panel of business attorneys who will discuss key business planning topics such as planning for continuity, powers of attorney, trusts, and succession planning along with Know Your Rights information, including what to do if ICE arrives at your workplace. The panel will last one hour.
The panel will be followed by a Q and A session.
After the panel, participants may meet individually with business attorneys for a 30 minute consultation to receive an individualized assessment of their own business. Advance registration is required for these consultations and space is limited. The panel is open to the public.
