Mike Stroster is a Member at the firm and has practiced law since 1998.  His practice is focused on representing businesses and individuals in matters related to immigration law and employment law.

Immigration and International Employment
Mr. Stroster has extensive experience preparing all types of employment-based visa petitions, including H-1B visas for specialty occupations for corporations seeking to staff U.S. business operations with foreign nationals in various skilled positions. This work has involved advising and assisting employers and individuals in a variety of industries with special emphasis on health care, manufacturing, information technology, and academic and scientific researchers. Mr. Stroster also provides advice and counseling with respect to immigration issues ranging from obtaining permanent resident status for foreign nationals, obtaining temporary visas for executives and managers, professional employees and seasonal workers, employment of foreign workers under NAFTA and compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and related anti-discrimination provisions.

Although his primary work is in the area of business immigration, Mr. Stroster often assists individuals with family-based immigration procedures, naturalization applications, and relief from removal proceedings.

Labor and Employment Law
In addition to his work in the area of immigration law, Mr. Stroster possesses broad experience in handling employment law matters. He has advised both public and private sector employers on issues related to employment discrimination, wage and hour issues, disabilities and accommodation, executive employment agreements, non-compete and solicitation agreements, workplace harassment, and labor arbitration.

Professional Affiliations, Activities and Honors
Mr. Stroster is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and is active in several professional organizations, including the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Stroster served on the Board of Directors of Alternative Directions, a diversionary program for non-violent criminal offenders.

Mr. Stroster has been recognized and listed in the Best Lawyers in America® for Labor Law – Management since 2024.

Mr. Stroster writes and speaks on a variety of immigration, employment and labor subjects, including I-9 compliance, the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage and hour laws and the legal ramifications of employment decisions.

Education
Mr. Stroster received his law degree, cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School in 1998.  Mr. Stroster received his undergraduate degree in 1994 from Grand Valley State University.  He is admitted to practice in all Michigan state and appellate courts as well as the federal Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.
