Jakob Williams is an Associate in Miller Johnson’s employment and labor practice.  He counsels a diverse group of employers and human resource professionals in various industries including municipalities, state entities, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial institutions in all aspects and stages of employment litigation and counseling.

Employment Litigation

Jakob is a part of the employment litigation team defending employers in cases including claims arising under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, and whistleblower protection laws. He frequently defends employers in front of the EEOC and state agencies in response to charges of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This includes drafting motions, conducting legal research.

Jakob’s litigation experience also includes restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, typically in conjunction with preliminary injunctions.

Employment Counseling

Jakob’s employment counseling covers a broach array of topics—including FMLA/ADA compliance, workplace policies, employment agreements, severance agreements, wage and hour issues, workplace investigations, discrimination, EEOC and state-agency audits, and other typical employment issues—for both private and public sector employers. He understands that each employer and workplace is unique, with different goals that require tailored solutions.

Jakob’s counseling experience also includes employment aspects of corporate transactions, including executive employment agreements, M&A diligence and risk advisory, and post-acquisition consulting and restructuring.

Professional Affiliations, Activities and Honors

Jakob is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association.

Education

Jakob is a graduate of the Drexel University School of Law where he earned his J.D. in 2020.  While in law school he was the Oxholm Fellow for the City of Philadelphia Law Department in the Tax Division, and was a student law clerk for Judge Stella Tsai in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

He received his B.S. in Anthropology from Michigan Technological University in 2017.
