Miller Johnson is pleased to announce it is consulting with Seth P. Tompkins of Seth P. Tompkins, Esq. PLLC to serve Michigan’s hospitality industry. For more than twenty years, the mainstay of Mr. Tompkins’ practice has been representing businesses regulated by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.

Seth Tompkins represents clients in complex matters involving business law, transactions, creditor’s rights, litigation, and regulatory compliance in the hospitality industry, including business owners, operators, and hospitality service specialists.

Mr. Tompkins practice is focused on all aspects of business operations, including real estate, bankruptcy, consumer protection and fraud, debt collection, litigation, appeals, mortgage, and foreclosure. He represents buyers and sellers in acquisitions and dispositions, and landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters.

He specializes in regulatory work and business transfers for his client’s licensed by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency.

Mr. Tompkins is licensed to practice in Michigan and is admitted to the United States District Court Eastern District of Michigan; the United States Bankruptcy Court Eastern District of Michigan; the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit; and the United States District Court Western District of Michigan.

Education

Mr. Tompkins earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 2001. While in Law School, he distinguished himself by becoming a two-time recipient of the Donald E. Barris Award for excellence in trial advocacy. He also won the Texas Trial Lawyers Association Regional Trial Competition and went on to represent Wayne State University at the National Competition in Dallas, Texas.

He received his B.A, focused in Political Economics and International Relations, from the James Madison College at Michigan State University in 1995.
