Emily K. Sheridan

Emily Sheridan is an associate attorney in Miller Johnson’s Probate and Estate Planning Practice Group. She obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University before attending law school at Stetson University College of Law.

Emily passed the Michigan Bar in 2020 and spent four years working in a small private practice as a Probate and Estate Planning attorney before joining Miller Johnson.

Emily’s unique background in law and social work allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the intricate dynamics that often accompany estate planning and probate cases. She prioritizes a client-centered approach to law that allows her to provide expert representation while also supporting her clients with empathy and understanding. Emily is known for her commitment to client satisfaction, ethical practices, and her compassionate holistic approach.

Practice related activities

Prior to joining the firm Emily successfully helped manage her father’s law firm, specializing in estate planning, probate, trust administration, Medicaid planning, and LLC formation.

Professional Affiliations, Activities and Honors

Emily is a certified civil and family law mediator. She was awarded a fellowship by the Florida Bar Foundation with Legal Aid of Manasota in law school and spent a summer semester learning alongside the attorneys in the Sarasota office. She was named Intern of the Year during her Master’s in Social Work program for her work with the Miramar Police Department as a victim advocate intern.

Emily earned her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2020. In 2019, Emily was a Judicial Extern for the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida Family Division where she focused on Family Law cases. In 2018, Emily was a law clerk focusing on Estate Planning, Trust Administration, and Real Estate Law.

Before attending law school, Emily graduated from Florida International University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2017. She received her Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in Psychology with a minor in leadership from Hope College in 2015.
