Emad Mahou is an Associate of the firm and has been practicing law since 2023. His practice areas include patent, copyright, source code and trademark litigation.

Practice Areas

Emad works with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to individuals looking to protect their intellectual property. Emad was a part of a team representing a Fortune 500 company in a defensive utility patent litigation in the Western District of Texas. Emad was part of a team representing a major fitness manufacturer in a copyright, source code and trade secret misappropriation in the Northern District of Illinois.

Emad belongs to the Chicago Bar Association, CBA IP Committee Liaison and Lawyers in the Classroom.

Articles and Presentations

Emad is a frequent speaker on his experience as a Syrian Refugee to various audiences, including TEDx, the Chicago Tribune, The Today Show, and DePaul Department of Political Science.   

He has had articles published in the Chicago Tribune. Additionally, Emad served as the managing editor of DePaul’s Journal or Social Justice and frequently publishes articles through Irwin IP’s ‘IPCOW’ on relevant intellectual property cases. 

Community Activities

Emad is currently active with the Oak Park Area Arts Council and Indian Health Services of Chicago.

Education

Emad received his law degree in 2023 from DePaul University College of Law and his undergraduate degree in 2016 from DeVry University.

Emad is admitted to practice in Illinois, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Western District of Texas (pro hac vice) and Patent Bar eligible.
