Caitlin C. Farrell is a Senior Counsel in the firm’s business section. Her practice includes commercial lending, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), international transactions and general business matters.
Ms. Farrell brings a diverse range of corporate and transactional experience to the table and works with clients to achieve their strategic goals. She represents investors, private companies, borrowers and lenders in various transactions including:
- Corporate mergers and acquisitions
- Joint ventures
- Debt and equity financing
- Warehouse loan facilities
- Sale-leaseback transactions
- Operating leases
- Asset-backed securitizations
Ms. Farrell focuses on thorough contract review and drafting with a pragmatic eye on getting the deal done. As part of the firm’s cross-section transaction team, she provides clients with advice on negotiating key agreements, structuring collateral packages, and troubleshooting problems.
Ms. Farrell began her career at Thompson Coburn LLP in Washington, D.C. working on corporate transactions, maritime finance, and government-supported export financings. Prior to joining Miller Johnson, she was a global transportation finance associate at Vedder Price, P.C. in Chicago, where she represented equity investors, borrowers, lenders, lessors, and lessees in multimillion dollar aircraft, rail and equipment transactions.
While attending law school at George Washington University, Ms. Farrell was a Judicial Clerk to the Administrative Judges in the Office of Dispute Resolution for Acquisition at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Farrell obtained her J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School in 2015. She was awarded the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal for Excellence in Bankruptcy Studies at graduation in recognition of her high achievements in the field of debtor creditor law. Ms. Farrell is admitted to practice law in Michigan, Illinois, and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Farrell earned her B.A. summa cum laude in 2011 from DePaul University where she was a DePaul Honors College Graduate. She studied abroad in Rome, Italy and interned at Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma. Ms. Farrell is proficient in Italian.
Personal and Community Activities
Ms. Farrell is a member of GW Law’s alumni mentoring program. She is also an avid supporter of the arts and enjoys oil painting in her spare time. Newly settled in Grand Rapids, Ms. Farrell and her fiancé enjoy exploring West Michigan with their spirited West Highland White Terrier.
