Emily E. Belczak
Emily Belczak serves as an Associate in Miller Johnson’s Private Client, Probate and Estate Planning Practice Group, where she works closely with individuals and families in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, and probate litigation.
With a personalized approach, Emily helps clients articulate their long-term objectives, evaluate their financial and personal circumstances, and implement tailored solutions. Her work includes preparing powers of attorney, patient advocate designations, and asset retitling documents, ensuring each plan is comprehensive and forward-looking.
Emily is committed to guiding clients through complex probate disputes with clarity and care. She frequently assists on a broad array of will, trust, estate, guardianship, and conservator disputes. Her experience includes assisting on challenges to the validity of wills and trusts, claims of breach of fiduciary duty, seeking court appointment and removal of personal representatives and trustees, seeking court appointment and removal of guardians and conservators for both minors and adults, and estate and trust creditor claim issues.
Emily spent two summers at Miller Johnson as a Summer Associate prior to joining full-time as an Associate. During her time as a summer associate, Emily gained valuable experience in estate planning, administration, and probate litigation. Prior to law school, Emily was a paralegal at a plaintiff-side medical malpractice firm. Her background in client intake and working with expert witnesses sharpened her ability to navigate complex legal issues and communicate effectively with clients—skills she now brings to her estate planning practice.
Education, Bar and Court Admissions, Clerkships
Emily earned her J.D. Summa Cum Laude from Michigan State University College of Law in 2025. She was the Senior Symposia editor of the Michigan State Law Review and the Communications Chair for the Moot Court Program. Emily competed in moot court competitions in both New Jersey and North Carolina. She was also a research assistant and drafted the Michigan State College of Law’s Appellate Advocacy Problem for the first-year student’s advocacy course during her second year.
Emily graduated Magna Cum Laude from Grand Valley State University, where she majored in Political Science and Minored in Writing.
She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
