David J. Walz
David Walz is a litigation attorney in the firm’s Medical Recovery Group, where he represents hospitals and other medical providers in recovering unpaid medical bills on patient accounts and resolving complex insurance reimbursement disputes.
Mr. Walz’s practice includes conducting pre-litigation investigation, legal research, depositions, mediations, and court appearances to achieve the most favorable outcomes for clients. He remains well-versed in evolving case law and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and statutes.
Prior to joining Miller Johnson, Mr. Walz spent several years representing various insurance companies in personal injury defense, handling cases from inception through resolution.
Mr. Walz brings a strategic, client-focused approach to every matter, combining deep knowledge of procedural law with a commitment to helping healthcare providers navigate the challenges of reimbursement litigation.

Mr. Walz authored an article published in The Journal of Law in Society (a publication of the Wayne State University Law School) titled “Conscience Clauses, Title VII and the Religious Right of Refusal to Performing Tasks in the Workplace” (Volume 19, No. 1-2, May 2019.)
Education
Mr. Walz received his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 2017. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CUNY Queens College in 2011.
Mr. Walz previously served as a Judicial Intern to the Hon. Mark A. Goldsmith on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He is admitted to practice in all Michigan State courts, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
