Chad Antuma is an Associate at Miller Johnson. He is starting his litigation practice working with the healthcare reimbursement practice group.
Mr. Antuma, prior to coming to Miller Johnson, spent his last year in law school as a law clerk at another firm with a longstanding reputation for work in the personal injury and Michigan no-fault auto law. His experience includes:
- Researching and writing about complex no-fault, nuisance, and other tort liability issues
- Evaluating the viability of no-fault and personal injury claims
Mr. Antuma now works with healthcare systems and provider organizations. He pursues improperly denied claims by enforcing state and federal laws requiring prompt payment of claims by third-party payers.
Professional Experience and Affiliations
Mr. Antuma served two clerkships while in law school. The first in 2017 was with the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Western District of Michigan. In 2018, he clerked with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan. His involvement at the ACLU ranged from litigation regarding timely issues such as the indefinite detention of foreign nationals to investigation concerning retaliatory zoning violations relating to the First Amendment.
Mr. Antuma is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
Mr. Antuma is dedicated to providing legal services to individuals who need them. While in law school, he worked at the Legal Assistance Center, a Kent county based non-profit self-help center. Here, he assisted individuals from the community who were involved in civil cases but didn’t have a lawyer. Mr. Antuma helped individuals solve a wide range of problems varying from domestic relations matters to landlord tenant issues.
Previously, Mr. Antuma had committed to working weekly with Justice for Our Neighbors in filing citizenship applications. He also volunteered more than 250 hours with the Ottawa County Legal Self-Help Center assisting indigent patrons in civil cases.
Mr. Antuma earned his J.D. cum laude in 2019 from Michigan State University College of Law. He was on the Dean’s List and served as an articles editor for the International Law Review. Mr. Antuma earned his B.B.A. from 2019, in 2014. He is licensed to practice in Michigan.
