Mr. Albertson is Of Counsel at Miller Johnson in the Education practice. Mr. Albertson has more than thirty years experience practicing Education Law and Labor and Employment Law.
Mr. Albertson is a graduate of Michigan State University, (B.A.) and the United States International University, (J.D.). Mr. Albertson is well known to the education community, advising many school districts on a daily basis while also serving as lead counsel within several precedent setting school law cases litigated before the State Tenure Commission, the Michigan Employment Relations Commission and the Michigan appellate courts.
Mr. Albertson’s expertise and accomplishments have been widely recognized. Mr. Albertson holds Martindale-Hubbell’s highest ranking for legal skills and ethics (AV). Mr. Albertson serves as a member of the American Arbitration Association Detroit Region Advisory Council and in 2009 was awarded the Michigan Negotiators Association’s prestigious Claggett award for his many professional contributions to the practice and development of Education Law. In 2010, Mr. Albertson was first recognized by dbusiness as a Top Lawyer in the fields of Education Law and Labor and Employment Law.
Mr. Albertson is frequently invited to speak on Education Law topics before professional organizations including the Michigan School Personnel Administrators Association, Metropolitan Detroit Bureau of School Studies, Michigan Negotiators Association and numerous county personnel administrators groups. He has also authored numerous papers and copyrighted materials relating to Education Law including, the Teachers’ Tenure Act, the Public Employment Relations Act, the Revised School Code, the Open Meetings Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Mr. Albertson and his wife Kathy live in Oakland County, where all three of their children graduated from public high school and Michigan universities.
